    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Rifki Prasetyo. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THINK PAIR SHARE LEARNING METHOD AND GROUP INVESTIGATION TOWARD THE LEARNING OUTCOME OF SOCIAL SCIENCE IN SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 6 KEBUMEN IN ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2014/2015 (Basic Competence Knowing the Definition of Dynamics of Human Interaction to Nature, Social, Culture and Economic Environment). Thesis. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Sebelas Maret University. January 2016. This research aims to: 1) know the difference of learning outcomes of Social Science among that uses Think Pair Share learning method, Group Investigation method, and Lecture method, 2) know the effectiveness of the using of Think Pair Share learning method and Lecture learning method, 3) know the effectiveness of the using of Group Investigation learning method and Lecture learning method, and 4) know the effectiveness of the using of Think Pair Share learning method and Group Investigation learning method in basic competence “knowing the definition of dynamics of human interaction to nature, social, culture and economic environment” on seventh grade students of State Junior High School 6 Kebumen in academic year of 2014/2015. This research using Quasi Experimental design by “Posttest-Only Control Design”. Population of this research are students in seventh grade of State Junior High School 6 Kebumen by sampling the students from class VII C as the class experiment 1, VII E as the class experiment 2, and VII D as the class control. Those samples were taken by using a Clusters Random Sampling technique. The data were collected by test. The data analysis are using descriptive statistics and inferential parametric with hypotheses tested by using analysis variant (One -Way Anava) and Post-Anava (Scheffe’ Method). The results show: 1) there is a difference of Social Lesson learning outcome between Think Pair Share method, Group Investigation, and Lecture method with the average score 23,14; 23,29; 22,09. It was proven from One-Way Anava test with the significance of 5% obtained fvalue> ftable (3,85 > 3,10), 2) Think Pair Share (23,14) is more effective than Lecture method (22,09), 3) Group Investigation method (23,29) is more effective than Lecture method (22,09), and 4) Think Pair Share method isn’t more effective than Group Investigation method in seventh grade students of Junior High School 6 Kebumen in academic year of 2014/2015 on basic competence knowing the definition of dynamics of human interaction to nature, social, culture and economic environment. From the calculation of Scheffe’ method at the significance degree 5% that have been carried out in three stages, all of that three learning methods have different quality, and the most effective learning method is Group Investigation, followed by Think Pair Share method and Lecture method.
