The objectives of research are to know: (1) the difference of VCD and Printed Media use effect on biology learning achievement (2) the difference of high and low learning motivation effect on biology learning achievement. (3) the interaction of the effect of learning media use and learning motivation on biology learning achievement. This study employed a quantitative method using experimental approach with a 2 x 2 factorial design and analytical descriptive data display. The population of research is the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 of Banjarnegara Regency. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling. The sample of research was the VIII graders of SMP Negeri Purwonegoro and SMP Negeri 1 Mandiraja, with one class consisting of 40 students used as control and one class consisting of 40 students used as experimental class. Meanwhile the technique of collecting data used was questionnaire and test. Technique of analyzing data used was a two-way variance analysis (ANOVA) technique. Before conducting analysis, the validity test was done using Product moment correlation and reliability was test using factorial validity. The result of hypothesis testing shows that: (1) there is the different effect between the use of learning model using printed media and VCD on the biology learning achievement. The learning model using VCD media provides the better biology learning achievement compared with the printed media. It can be concluded that the Biology learning achievement taught using VCD learning media is better than that using printed media. It can be seen from the F statistic value = 34,438 > F table (=0.05) = 4,091; (2) there is different effect between the student with high achievement motivation and the one with low achievement motivation on Biology learning achievement. Thus, it can be concluded that there is mean difference between high and low achievement motivations. It can be concluded that the score of Biology learning achievement of the students with high achievement motivation is better than those with low achievement motivation. It can be seen from the result of F test = 124,796 > F table (=0.05) = (4,091); (3) there is an interaction of the effect of learning media use and learning motivation on biology learning achievement. It can be seen from the result of f statistic (0,467). F table is (4,091). Because F statistic is lower than F table, the null hypothesis is supported. It means that there is not an interaction of the effect of learning media use and learning motivation on biology learning achievement. The findings of research confirm the learning theories and theories concerning learning motivation. Furthermore, by applying the learning media with VCD, the teacher is expected to: (1) have skill in using the learning model as an attempt of improving learning quality, and (2) have skill in growing the active learning motivation.
