    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Meliavi Hersanti, 2016. Teaching English Vocabulary to the Fifth Grade Students of SDN 02 Karanganyar. English Diploma Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University. This final project report was written based on the job training done as an English teacher at SDN 02 Karanganyar, starting from January 26th, 2015 to February 28th, 2015. The objectives of this final project are to describe the use of pictures in teaching vocabulary to the fifth grade students of SDN 02 Karanganyar, and to find out the teaching problems and solutions of the use of pictures in teaching and learning to the fifth grade students of SDN 02 Karanganyar. The data of this final project were collected through the observation. It was done to know the condition of the class, the condition of the students, and the teaching and learning process of English lesson. The activities of teaching and learning English vocabulary to the fifth grade students of SDN 02 Karanganyar consisted of three steps; warming up, presentation, and assessment. The game was also put in the assessment so that the learning activity could be more attractive. There were some problems in teaching learning activity. The problems were the time allocation, the picture size, the book, and linguistic mistakes. Therefore, the solving problems were the attractive activity, the maximum picture, the exercise from other reference books or internet, and the correction of linguistic mistakes.
