    Abstract

S881402008. 2016. “The Development of Science, Environment, Technology and Society (SETS) Booklet Media - Based in the Subject Matter of Natural Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation in Grade X SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta State High School Academic Year 2014/2015)”. THESIS. Supervisor I: Prof. Dr. Heribertus Soegiyanto, S.U., Supervisor II: Prof. Dr. Chatarina Muryani, M.Sc. Department of Demography and Ecology Majoring Geography Education, Postgraduate Program, Sebelas Maret University. ABSTRACT The purposes of this study are: 1) to develop the Booklet media SETS- based as a media of learning in the subject matter of mitigation and adaptation to thenatural disasters in SMA 8 Surakarta state high school, 2) to determine the effectiveness of learning with the use of Booklet media SETS- based in the subject matter of mitigation and adaptation to natural disasters the results of Grade X students at SMAN 8 Surakarta State High School. This research belonged to the development research, divided into three stages: define, design, and develop (3-D). Booklet media design SETS-based was designed using Corel Draw application 6. To determine the effectiveness, trials in class X IIS (Social Science) SMAN 8 Surakarta State High School were conducted by using experimental apparent research design. Techniques of data collection used were observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation and testing. The instruments used in this research were observation sheets, questionnaire sheets and assessment sheets. Feasibility appraisal data of booklet media design SETS-based was processed using representative descriptive formula, while the effectiveness of data analysis was processed using t-test formula. The results show that, booklet media design SETS-based has successfully developed by using validation with a whole result criteria of "feasible" is used as a learning media. Furthermore, from the effectiveness of the test results is known that tcount > ttable, so it can be interpreted that booklet media design SETS-based has improved the results of class X students in the subject matter of mitigation and adaptation to natural disasters effectively.
