The primary data of this research were obtained from Muhammadiyah Higher Educational Institutions (PTM), consists of 40 Universities and the Muhammadiyah’s Council of Higher Education. Respondents were drawn from the entire leadership of PTM leaders, consisting of Rector, University Senate, the Board of Trustees, and the Council of Higher Education of Muhammadiyah. As such, respondents of the study consist of 447 respondents, while returned questionnaires and analyzed were 120 respondents. The data gathered were analyzed by utilizing Partial Least Square (Smart PLS software version 2.0 M3). The result of the study indicates that the governance structure influences both affective and continuous commitments. However, the governance structure does not prove to have an effect on normative commitment. Meanwhile, the governance mechanism has an influence on all type of commitments.
