    ABSTRACT Background: Stress is a physiological respon of human body to face internal and external stimulus that threaten, with symptoms as feel unrestful and other biologic sign. Stress has many factor. Work as career woman is one of that factor which can effect level of stress in woman. Career woman and Non-Career Woman are groups which research focused for. Stress level in woman when she was pregnant, would give bad impact for age gestation, which can decrease age gestation when labour come, that usual called as preterm labour. Important reason why we must understand differences level of stress between two groups in this research is to give early educate for pregnant women and eliminate the rate of preterm labour and also to increase productivities among pregnant women. Methods: This study were an observational analytic study using cross sectional approach. The subjects were career woman and non-career woman with preterm labour in Karanganyar District, Central Java, Indonesia. The data were collected using questionnaire that consist of Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale 21 (DASS 21) to measure stress level, additional information questionnaire, and work information questionnaire. Data was analyzed by using Mann-Whitney test. Results: There were 52 respondences as samples for this study, with 26 respondences in each group. The data showed a sligt difference in the average DASS score of both group (31,33 in non-career woman compared to 21,67 in career woman) and according to the Mann-Whitney test, the difference was significant (Z = -2,303 and p = 0,021 (p < 0,1)). Conclusions: There are differences in stress level among career woman and non-Career woman with preterm labour in Karanganyar Distric. Mean of stress level on non-career woman is relatively higher than career woman. Keywords : Stress,Woman, Career, Preterm
