    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Lidia Yesi P., 2015. Teaching Vocabulary By Using Pictures To The Fourth Grade Students Of SD Kanisius Pucangsawit Surakarta.English Diploma Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University. This final project report was written based on the job training that the writer did in January at SD Kanisius Pucangsawit Surakarta. The purpose of this final project is to describe the use of pictures in teaching vocabulary to the fourth grade students of SD KanisiusPucangsawitSurakarta, and to find out the teaching problem and solution of the use of pictures inteachig and learning to the fourth grade students of SD Kanisius Pucangsawit Surakarta. The writer did class observation, during the job training. The writer observed the condition of the class,the teaching and learning process of English lesson. The activities of teaching and learning English to the fourth grade students of SD Kanisius Surakarta consist of six steps, they are: Warming up, Explanation, Exercises, Games, Assessment and Closing the lesson. The writer found out the positive effects of using pictures in teaching English vocabulary,these are: the pictures could improve the students’ motivation, the pictures could attract the students to learn English vocabulary, the pictures help the students remember what they have studied and the pictures can be used to remind the students to the real life and real condition. To improve the quality of English teaching and learning in SD Kanisius Pucangsawit Surakarta, it is suggested that the English teacher had to create the suitable technique in improving the students’ motivation in learning English vocabulary. SD Kanisius Pucangsawit Surakarta should also provide the teaching media that are useful to support the English teaching process.
