    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Triyono, NIM : I 0302058. DETERMINATION OPTIMUM SETTING LEVEL BENDING STRENGTH GYPSUM INTERIOR LASING OF CANTULA FIBER USING TAGUCHI EXPERIMENT DESIGN. Thesis. Surakarta: Industrial Engineering Faculty of Engineering, Sebelas Maret University, January 2007. This research is aim to know several things such as the factors which having an effect to the bending strength gypsum interior lasing of cantula fiber, to decide optimum setting level from influence factors and knowing the level of quality loss functions from consumer and company. This research uses the experiment method and for the examination uses controls bending strength testing machine type C 11/C. This experiment is conducted by the Taguchi methods which quality characteristic is gypsum interior product bending strength. This method is conducted based on C.473 ASTM testing standard. While there is several factors that predicted influence the bending strength such as volume faction of fiber, heavy faction of white cement, plaster gypsum brand, and water. Data processing uses two analyses to decide optimal level setting, which consist of mean analysis, and analyses of signal noise ratio, after that to test the predictor value of setting level factors in normal condition is conducted by confirmation experiment. This Experiment uses the Taguchi method, with quality characteristic is bending strength gypsum interior product pursuant to examination standard ASTM (American society for testing and materials) C.473, is while anticipated factor have an effect on to bending strength is fiber volume faction, faction is heavily white cement, gypsum plaster brand and water. Data processing use two analysis to determine optimum setting level, consist of analysis of mean and analysis of signal to noise ratio, is then done by confirmation experiment to test the predicted value optimum setting level factor. Data processing indicates that the volume faction fiber and heavy faction of white cement have significant effect to the bending strength gypsum interior. The optimal setting level for each factor is faction volume fiber approximately 5%, and heavy faction of white cement approximately 0 %. From the experiment confirmation is obtained average value of 13.656 MPA. The mean hypothesis result of two mean between actual condition compare to confirmation experiment indicate that bending strength gypsum interior optimum setting level differ significant to actual condition ( µ1<µ2). The quality loss function calculation result of company at actual condition is Rp.486.2, - and quality loss function for optimum condition is Rp.285.1,-. So that thrift of company is Rp.201.1 while quality loss function consumer before optimizing equal to Rp.1168,- and value quality loss function after optimum setting applied is Rp.614,- so that thrift able to be done reach Rp.554 per product.
