    Abstract

    The objective of this research is to improve the students’ activeness in the subject of applying of cooperation’s principles to colleagues and customers in grade X A of Office Administration Department in Wijaya Kusuma Vocational High School Surakarta through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and time token method. This research is classroom action reserach (CAR) that consists two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In Cycle I, the application of time token method was done in 30 seconds to talk, and in Cycle II was done in 60 seconds to talk. The subjects of this research were 19 students in Grade X A of Office Administration Department of Wijaya Kusuma Vocational High School in Surakarta. The sources of data were the teacher and students, and documents. The data of this research were collected through in-depth interview, observation, and documentation. They were validated using data and method triangulation, then analyzed using the descriptive-comparative analysis technique. The result of this research shows that the application of the PBL through time token method can improve the student’ activeness as much as 44.47%. The activeness in Pre-cycle was 32.11%. Then it became 53.68% in Cycle I and 76.58% in Cycle II respectively.
