    Abstract

    Mutiara Danirmala (K5411042) THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MAKE A MATCH TEACHING METHOD USING OUTDOOR APPROACH TO IMPROVE STUDENT’S INTEREST AND ACHIEVEMENT IN LEARNING GEOGRAPHY (Main Material Hydrosphere and Its Impact to Life on Earth A Tenth Grade Student of Class X-8 SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali Academic Year 2014/2015). Thesis, Surakarta: Teacher Training and Education Faculty. University of Sebelas Maret Surakarta. October 2015. The objectives of the research are (1) to find out the improvement of students’ interest in learning geography through the implementation of make a match teaching method using outdoor approach in the topic of analyzing hydrosphere and its impact to life on earth class X-8 SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali Academic Year 2014/2015. (2) to find out the improvement of students’ achievement in learning geography through the implementation of make a match teaching method using outdoor approach in the topic of analyzing hydrosphere and its impact to life on earth class X-8 SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali academic year 2014/2015. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consists of four phases, which are planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of the study were students of class X-8 SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali academic year 2014/2015. The data collection technique used in this research were interviews, observation, questionnaires, and tests. The data analysis technique used in this research were qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The result of this research are (1) the implementation of make a match teaching method using outdoor approach in the topic hydrosphere and its impact to life on earth proved that empirically can increase students’ interest in learning geography in class X-8 SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali on the second cycle with the percentages of 86,67% of the students have a high interest in learning geography. (2) the implementation of make a match teaching method using outdoor approach in the topic hydrosphere and its impact to life on earth proved that empirically can increase students’ achievement in learning geography in class X-8 SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali on the second cycle with the percentages of the learning outcomes of knowledge competencies 83,33%, the learning outcomes of attitude competencies 90%, and learning outcomes of competencies skills of 86,67%. The conclusion of this research shows there is an improvement of students’ interest and students’ achievement in learning geography through the implementation of make a match teaching method using outdoor approach on student of class X-8 SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali academic year 2014/2015.
