    Abstract

    Tri Nurul Khomidah. APPLICATION OF THE SELF-ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUE WITH RUBRIC TO IMPROVE THE LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT IN ACCOUNTING LEARNING AT BATIK VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL 1 OF SURAKARTA. Thesis: The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education,Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, July 2015. The objective of this research is to improve the self-awareness, achievement motivation, active participation, and learning achievement of the students in Grade X of Accounting 2 of Batik Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta, through the application of the self-assessment technique with rubric. This research used the classroom action research (CAR) with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation and interpretation, and analysis and reflection.The subjects of research were 34 studentsinGrade Xof Accounting 2 of Batik Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta. The data of the research were collected through observation, simple questionnaire, test, and documentation. The result of this research in Cycle I shows that the application of the self-assessment technique with rubric in Accounting learning can improve the students’ learning achievement although not optimal yet. It was shown by the students’ learning achievement indicator which reached 64.71% from its early condition (38.24%). Self-awareness as much as 70.15%, achievement motivation as much as 74.20%, and student’s active participation as much as 73,56%. In Cycle II, the result of the research showed that the application of the self assessment technique with rubric in accounting learning can improve students’ learning achievement optimally. It was shown by students’ learning achievement that reached 85.29%, followed by the improvement of students’ self-awareness as much as 78.34%, students’ achievement learning as much as 81.45%, and students’ active participation as much as 80.38%. Thus, the application of the self assessment technique with rubric can improve the students’ learning achievement. The improvement of learning achievement is also followed by the improvement of self-awareness, achievement motivation, and students’ active participation.
