    Abstract

    Fabrication of a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) ­ natural zeolite (ZA) based ceramic has been done by using solid reaction method. The activated ZA­PVA compound was pressed with 10 kN load and then sintered up to 200 0 C. There are eight different composition was analyzed in this experiment, with PVA composition 10­80 %wt. The mechanic and acoustics properties analysis was done by using bending test and ASTM E­1050­98 procedure respectively. The results shows that the best mechanic performance (1,236±0,002) × 10 8 Pa is occurred on the sample with 80 %wt PVA fraction, while best acoustics performance with alpha 0,5 in 5 kHz – 6 kHz occurred on sample 10 %wt PVA. This is agreed with the theoretical prediction that the mechanic performance increased along its PVA %wt, while the acoustics performance decreased in the same manner.
