    Abstract

"Social Network of Traders in Traditional Markets Post-Renovation" (Case Study of Social Network between Grosery Distributor Traders, Wholesalers and Retail Traders in Rejowinagun Market, Magelang City post-Renovation) .Essay. Sociology Department. Social and Political Sciences Faculty. Surakarta Sebelas Maret University. This research was taken place in Rejowinangun Market, Rejowinangun Utara Village, Magelang Selatan Sub District, Magelang City. Rejowinangun market which experienced a fires in 2008 has been officially used back in March 2014. Rejowinangun market raises many new traders are attracted many distributors. Many distributor traders adds to the existing social networks. This research aims to find out the social networks of traders in the Rejowinangun market post-renovation. Social networks to see how the distributor traders, wholesalers and retail traders establish business on the basis of social relations, trust and mutual relationship. The theory used in this research was social exchange theory by George C. Homans. This study uses is a qualitative method with case study approach. The data was using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The sample was taken using purposive sampling technique. The subjects of this study is totaling 10 person of haberdasher consist of 2 distributors traders, 4 wholesalers and 4 retail traders. To validate the data, source triangulation was used, while the data analysis was done using an interactive model. The conclusion is that the social network between haberdasher in Rejowinangun markets can not be separated from the exchange. What is gained by someone depending on what it provides. Good relationships between haberdasher based on the belief will cause a reciprocal relationship of mutual benefit between the two sides. Adverse relationship will be abandoned. Exchange that occurs between the merchant is caused by a sense of mutual need to make a profit. Keywords: Rejowinangun Market, Social Networks, Traders
