    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Lina Muktiasih. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INQUIRY LEARNING MODEL IMPLEMENTATION WITH CONCEPT MAP MEDIA TO IMPROVE HISTORICALNESS UNDERSTANDING AND HISTORICAL LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE 10TH MIA 5 GRADE OF SMA NEGERI 5 SURAKARTA IN THE SCHOOL YEAR OF 2014/2015. Thesis. Surakarta: Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Surakarta Sebelas Maret University. August, 2015. The objective of research was to improve historicalness understanding and learning achievement of the 10th MIA 5 Grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in the school year of 2014/2015 through applying inquiry learning model with concept map media. This study was a classroom action research (CAR). This study was conducted in two cycles, each of which consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of research were students and teacher of history subject in the 10th MIA 5 Grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta. Data and data source derived from students and teacher of history subject. Techniques of collecting data used were interview, observation, questionnaire, and test. Data validation was carried out using method triangulation technique. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive comparative technique. The research procedure used was spiral model. The result of research showed that: (1) the application of inquiry learning model with concept map media could improve historicalness understanding and history learning achievement in the 10th MIA 5 Grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in the school year of 2014/2015. It could be seen from the proportion of indicator achievement in historicalness understanding questionnaire. In cycle I, the mean value gain was 76.38% and in cycle II, it increase to 87.84% this gain had surpassed the specified target of 75%. (2) The application of inquiry learning model with concept map media could improve learning achievement. It could be seen from the successfully passing of cognitive test achievement value, in which 64.52% of students passed successfully in cycle I, and 77.41% in cycle II; this result had surpassed the specified target of 75%. The conclusion of research was that the application of inquiry learning model with concept map media could improve the historicalness understanding and history learning achievement in 10th MIA 5 Grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in the school year of 2014/2015.
