    Abstract

    Anggraeni Rosita Damayanti. IMPROVING METACOGNITION SKILL USING GUIDED INQUIRY AT CLASS X MIA 2 OF SMAN 7 SURAKARTA. Thesis. Surakarta, September 2015. The purpose of the research was to improve aspects of metacognition skill (planning, monitoring, evaluation) to achieve an increase of 30% in Ecosystem Learning using guided inquiry model at class X MIA 2 of SMAN 7 Surakarta. The research belongs to classroom action research consist of three cycle and each have four phase, namely planning, actuating, observing, and reflecting. The Subject of this research is 1st grade 26 students of science 2 at SMA 7 Surakarta. Sources of data obtained from the teacher and students. Test (essay question test) and non test (observation, questionnaire, documentation) methods were used to collect the data. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive approach consist of three component, among others: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. Validated through using triangulation method. The method of research was spiral method The result showed that the average of aspect metacognition skill (planning, monitoring, evaluation) increase from Pre-Cycle to First Cycle and from First Cycle to Second Cycle and from Second Cycle to Third Cycle. Improvement on three aspects of metacognition skill, such as in aspect: 1) Planning (23,45%/ 24,47%/50,59%/70,53%) achieve an increase of 41,10%; 2) Monitoring (23,29%/48,19%/49,01%/68%) achieve an increase of 43,25%; 3) Evaluation (34,14%/43,14%/67,79%/69,18%) achieve an increase of 35,04%. Therefore, it can be concluded that aspects of metacognition skill improve using guided inquiry in Ecosystem Learning at 1st grade students of science 2 at SMA 7 Surakarta 2014/2015.
