    Abstract

    Emilia Nur Hayati. K2311025. TEACHING FLUID WITH CTL THROUGH EXPERIMENT AND DEMONSTRATION VIEWED FROM STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION ABILITY AT XI GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA KEBAKKRAMAT. Thesis. Surakarta. Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Sebelas Maret University. November, 2015. This research was intended to: 1) find out whether or not there is a difference influence of the implementation of CTL through experiment and demonstration towards the students’ cognitive ability, (2) find out whether or not there is a different influence of the students’ scientific communication ability level i. e. high and low category towards the students’ cognitive ability, (3) find out whether or not there is an interaction between the influence of the implementation CTL and the students’ scientific communication towards their cognitive ability. The population of this research was all students of class XI Science SMA Negeri Kebakkramat in the academic year of 2014/2015. The sample representing the population was class XI Science 2 and XI Science 3 that were taken randomly. This research used experimental method with 2x2 factorial design. The data of the students’ scientific communication ability were obtained through observation while the data of the students’ cognitive ability were got through test. . The result of research shows that: (1) there was a different influence of the implementation of CTL through experiment and demonstration towards the students’ cognitive ability (Fa=15,797958> F0,05;1;68=3,989); (2) there was a different influence of the students’ scientific communication ability towards the students’ cognitive ability (Fb=5,8750430> F0,05;1;68=3,989); and (3) there was not interaction between the influence of the implementation of CTL through experiment and demonstration with the students’ level of scientific communication ability i. e. high and low category towards the students’ cognitive ability (Fab=0,0170760
