    Abstract

Thesis Civil Engineering Departement Engineering Faculty of Sebelas Maret University . In the era of globalization is rapidly increasing population growth such as in Indonesia. With increasing population then increased the need housing. In the current economic crisis is needed economical housing remains safe and convenient therapy. Need for the use of reinforced concrete will increase along with the increasing demand of housing construction. This will increase the need for steel reinforcement as a major component of the structure, while the availability of the manufacture of steel (iron ore) will be limited because it is one of the natural resources that can not be refurbished, automated reinforcement steel prices will also be increased due to be scarce for encountered. Experts have examined the structure of the world the possibility of using other materials by using bamboo as reinforcement of concrete. Bamboo is a plant can grow anywhere and the production capacity every year is relatively abundant. Bamboo was chosen as an alternative reinforcement concrete because it is a natural product of renewable, inexpensive, easy to grow, fast growth, can reduce the effects of global warming and has a very high tensile strength that can be compared with steel. Bamboo has a tensile strength that is quite high, between 100-400 MPa, equivalent to ½ to ¼ of iron ultimate tension. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the flexural capacity of concrete beam with reinforced petung bamboo notch type "u" with distance 5 cm in width notch 1 cm and 2 cm.. This study used an experimental method with a total of 15 sample of the specimen. Test specimen used is concrete beams measuring 110 x 150 x 1700 mm. Five of the use of reinforcing steel, 10 sample using reinforcement petung with dimensions 1650 x 20 x 5.2 mm using the notch type "U" with a distance of 5 cm in width notch 1 cm and 2 cm. Bending test performed at 28 days with a three-point loading method. In term of bending capacity, the test results of concrete beam reinforced petung bamboo notch type U with a distance of 5 cm width 10 mm equivalent of 49.76% while the concrete beam reinforced petung bamboo notch type U with a distance of 5 cm width 20 mm was equal 44.42% reinforcement of the beam with a diameter of 8 mm plain steel. Crack pattern concrete beams with steel reinforcement and the concrete beams with reinforcement petung type "u" with a distance of 5 cm in width notch 1 cm and 2 cm occurs between 1/3 midspan.
