    Abstract

    The aim of this research is to find out the improvement of listening skill using interactive multimedia based on scientific approach for fifth grade student of Laweyan elementary school of Surakarta in 2014/2015 academic year. This research applied Classroom Action Research through three cycles. Each cycle consist of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research are 39 students of fifth grade student of Laweyan elementary school of Surakarta, consist of 18 boys and 21 girls. The data collecting technique are observation, test, in-depth interview, and content analysis. The data validity are source and technique triangulation. The data analysis technique is descriptive comparative analytical model. The result shows that the use of interactive multimedia based on scientific approach has succeeded to improve the students’s listening skill score, students’s activity score, and teacher’s performance. The students’s listening skill score are increased continuously in each cycle. In the pre cycle, 9 students or 23,1% passed the classical passing grade. In the first cycle, 23 students or 59% passed the classical passing grade. In the second cycle, 31 students or 79,5% passed the classical passing grade. And in the third cycle, 33 students or 84,6% passed the classical passing grade. The improvement of the students’s listening skill is the impact of the use of interactive multimedia in the students’s activity during the teaching learning process. Students become more enthusiastic through their participation in listening skill. The use of interactive multimedia makes students become more interested to the learning material. From the research, it founds that the improvement of teacher’s performance occurred in each cycle. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the use of interactive multimedia based on scientific approach improves the students’s listening skill of the V grade student in of Laweyan elementary school of Surakarta in 2014/2015 academic year.
