    Abstract

    Luthfi Aji Ramdani. TO IMPROVE ABILITY OF LITERACY TROUGH MIND MAPPING METHOD TO THE CHILDREN IN B GROUP OF TK ISLAM BAKTI IX SURAKARTA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2014/2015. Thesis, Teacher Training and Education of Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta. July 2015. The research aim is to improve the ability of literacy trough mind mapping method to the children in B group of TK Islam Bakti IX Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. The research used a classroom action research method with two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research were the 15 children in B group of TK Islam Bakti IX Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. The data resources from teacher and children. The data of the research were gathered through observation, in-depth interview, documentation, and test. They were validated by using the data source triangulation and the data gathering technique triangulation. The data were then analyzed by using the interactive model of analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The result of the research showed that through mind mapping can increasing the ability of literacy of the children in B group of TK Islam Bakti IX Surakarta from the pre test before the action to the first cycle, and from first cycles to the second cycles. The average score the ability of recognize numbers of the pre test before action was 40% or 6 children who were obtained complete criteria. The improvement occurred in first cycle, the average score in the ability of recognize numbers children was 53% or 8 children who were obtained complete criteria. Then second cycle the average score was 86.66% or 13 children who were obtained complete criteria. The conclusion of the research is that through mind mapping method is able to increase the ability of literacy of children in B group of TK Islam Bakti IX Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015.
