    Abstract

    PC based CNC is one of the type CNC machine that it is intergrated between personal computer and use software controller Artsoft Mach3. This machine is designed form a workpiece with 1.8 x x 1,45 x 0.9 m maximum dimension. It can not only shorten the time a mock-up a body component car manufacture made of Styrofoam, but also improve the accuracy of a workpiece, compare with previous method (manual layering). The purpose of this final project is calculated the stregth structure of Z axis CNC arm, designed the process, and simulated the structure by a computer. From the planning of the it was obtained the Z axis CNC arm design . The calculations of structure strength is resulted, maximum stress is reached at 0,0995 N/mm2 and yield stress of the material is 55,14 N/mm2 , so the design is categorized safe.
