    Abstract

    At Viscous fluid processing industries there is fluid flowing in the pipe system to support the various production processes. Fluids with thick viscosity level are more difficult to flow, that often lead to productivity constraints. Fluid viscosity is significantly dependent on temperature, if the temperature on fluid flow inside the pipes can be controlled then the productivity can be optimized. One of the food and beverage industry, PT. Lombok Gandaria has a drainage system that requires ketchup a certain temperature to achive at the desired fluid flow rate. Temperature control system is a temperature control device which is designed on piping systems fluid flow to maintain a fluid flow conditions in a stable and optimal temperature. Mechanism design of temperature control system automatically control the temperature with a ATmega 8535 microcontroller which receives input from LM35 temperature sensor. LM35 compares the actual temperature to the desired control temperature and provides an output to the microcontroller. This study aims to obtain an optimal level setting parameters to generate the stability of fluid temperature output in the range of 33.5 ± 0.5 oC and achieve optimal levels of energy consumption of the temperature control system. In this study, full factorial experimental technique is used to find the LM35 sensor installation location and the optimal energy consumption of temperature control system. Through this study, not only can the LM35 sensor installation location and optimal energy consumption be obtained, but also the main parameters that affects the length of heating time and energy consumption can be found. The experiments performed to determine the LM35 sensor installation location shows that the optimal level setting installation of sensors is at a distance of 3.7 cm which is capable of producing stable output temperature in the range of 33.5 ± 0.5 oC with 94.44% success rate. While energy consumption optimization is achieved through the activation of the entire heater and fan rotation settings on high speed.By considering the average temperature difference between output and targets achieved and the results of the energy consumption confirmation experiments, optimal level setting can be recommended for the installation of temperature control system.
