    Kristian Dwi Nugroho. D0110070. Thesis. THE EFFECT OF WORK ENVIRONMENT AND JOB MOTIVATION TO THE WORK DISCIPLINE OF CIVIL SERVANTS IN DINAS PENGELOLAAN PASAR OF SURAKARTA CITY. Faculty of Social and Political Science. Sebelas Maret University. Surakarta. 2015. 105 pages. In order to realize a reliable, professionals, and moral of civil servants as government administrators who apply the principles of good governance, civil servants as an element of the state apparatus was required to be disciplined in carrying out the task. One of efforts that can be taken in realizing civil servants with good discipline that is by considering the work environmental conditions and the level of job motivation of civil servants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of work environment and job motivation to the work discipline of civil servants in Dinas Pengelolaan Pasar Kota Surakarta. The indicators were used to determine the condition of work discipline, work environment and the motivation level of civil servants in the DPP of Surakarta is two (2) dimensions were contained in Government Regulation No. 53 Year of 2010 on Civil Servants Discipline, namely: comply with the obligations and avoid prohibitions, two (2) dimensions of the work environment, namely; physical and non-physical environment, and also five (5) dimensions of the job motivation; physical needs, security and safety needs, social needs, esteem needs and self-actualization needs. This research is an explanatory quantitative. The sampling technique was used proportionate stratified random sampling. The data collecting technique was conducted with questionnaire and supported by observation and documentation. The influences of the working environment and working motivation to the discipline were known by using ordinal regression analysis with SPSS 20. The results were showed that the working environment and job motivation both partially and simultaneously have positive and significant impact to the work discipline, as well as having the relative and effective contribution, namely: 53% and 15.48% for work environment variable, 47% and 13.72% for the job motivation variable. However, only obtained the total value of effective contribution of each variable is quite small, which amounted to 29.2%. It is estimated due to the nature and the apathy of the respondents that indifferent to the rules and sanctions or penalties that have been imposed.
