    Abstract

Background: VO2 maximum is the maximum amount of oxygen that is captured by the lungs, cardiovascular system and circulation consumed by the cell/tissue per minute. VO2 Max are influenced by several condition, including age, sex, temperature, physical activity, vital lung capacity, and pulse. Yoga is one of sport that involves the role of the respiratory system. This study aims to determine the relationship of lung vital capacity and pulse agains VO2 max on the people doing Yoga. Methods: This research was observational analytic with cross-sectional study design. The research was held in Gymnasium of Yoga Ganep’s with 30 samples of women taken by simple random sampling. Independent variable of this research were lung vital capacity and pulse. Lung vital capacity measured with spirometer. Pulse measured with palpation on the radialis arteria. Dependent variable of this research was VO2 maximal measured with Step Up Test for five minutes with measurement unit of ml/kgBB/min. Results: The statistical analysis showed that correlation test obtained that lung vital capacity had correlation score (r) 0.135 (P = 0.005). The pulse had a value of correlation (r) 0.797 (p = 0.000. While the result of linear regression test had correlation score (R) 0.823 (p = 0.000). This means there was strong relationship between lung vital capacity and pulse to VO2 max. Contribution of lung vital capacity to VO2 max was 1.8%, contribution of the pulse to VO2 max was 63.5% and effective contribution of lung vital capacity and pulse to VO2 max was 67.8%. The data normality test result with p score of VO2 max, lung vital capacity and pulse were 0.467; 0.369; 0.259. All data were distributed normally. Conclusions: There is a relationship between lung vital capacity and pulse agains VO2 maximal on people doing Yoga. Keywords: Lung Vital Capacity, Pulse, VO2 Max, Yoga
