    Abstract

    This study discusses the effectiveness of role playing technique to enhance students’ self-concept of class X Accounting of SMK Negeri 4 Klaten in the academic year of 2013/2014. This study aims at determining the effectiveness of role playing technique to improve students’ self-concept of class X Accounting of SMK Negeri 4 Klaten in the academic year of 2012/1013. The hypothesis in this study is that Role Playing Technique is effective to improve students’ self concept of class X Accounting of SMK Negeri 4 Klaten. This study is a Quasi-Experimental Design using Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The subjects are students of class X Accounting of SMK Negeri 4 Klaten, in total of 33 people. Source of data comes from the students. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The validity of data is tested through product moment correlation. The data are collected from the self-concept questionnaires which are analyzed using t-test. The results of hypothesis testing in this research show that tcount 11,754 > ttable 1,998 and the significance value 0,000 < 0,05, thus role playing technique is proven to be effective to improve students’ self-concept of class X Accounting of SMK Negeri 4 Klaten. The mean of pretest score is 125,58 and posttest score is 140,06. The mean of pretest and posttest scores rose by 14,48. This means that there are differences in the mean of pretest and posttest scores. This study suggests that role playing technique is effective to improve students’ self-concept of class X Accounting of SMK Negeri 4 Klaten in the Academic Year of 2013/2014.
