    Abstract

    This classroom action research aimed to describe the implementation of learning with learning cycle 7E model that can improve the comprehension and the creativity of the VIII C class of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar, to find out the improvement of student comprehension after learning cycle 7E model and to find out the improvement of student creativity after learning cycle 7E model. The data collected in this research was the data of student comprehension and learning creativity. The data of comprehension was obtained from the final cycle test, while that of learning creativity from observation during learning indicator. The indicators of this research’s success were that the student’s comprehension was at least 75% reaching high category ( score ≥ 75) in the end of cycle, and learning creativity was at least 75% reaching high category ( score ≥ 66,67%) in the end of cycle. The result of research concluded that the learning procedure with Learning Cycle 7E is learning model that be based on constructivfis model that could improve the student’s concept mastery and learning creativity included: 1) Elicit, the teacher asked some questions to stimulate the student’s prior knowledge. 2) Engage, included a) teacher motivated the student which is related to the material to be discussed in order to stimulate the student’s interest, b) teacher conveyed the objective and the benefit of learning at that day. 3) Explore included a) teacher divided the class into 5 groups, b) teacher asked the students to discuss in group to work on the student worksheet. 4) Explain, included a) teacher asked the leader student of team work to presenting the result of discuss in front of the class, b) the teacher clarified the right answer of result discussion and ensured all of the student understood. 5) Elaborate, include a) teacher asked the students to discuss the problem solving existing in Student Worksheet (2), b) teacher asked the students to work on the discussion result in front of the class, c) teacher along with the students discussed the answer in front of the class. 6) Evaluate, was conducted by giving the students the quiz in order to be worked on individually. 7) Extend, included a) teacher gave examples of problems in daily life related to the material being taught. Based on this learning, the mean percentage of student comprehension was 57.14% in cycle I increasing by 33.33% to 90.47% in cycle II. While the result of student creativity was 23.81% in cycle I increasing by 61.36% to 85.71 % in cycle II. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the use of Learning Cycle 7E model could improve the mathematic comprehension and learning creativity in the VIII C class of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar in the school year of 2012/2013.
