    Abstract

    The work performance of health workers become a very important element in efforts to maintain and improve the health of national development. Studies of the literature shows performance work of a midwife influenced by individual competence, organizational support and management support. The Purposes of this research is to knowing the effect of emotional intelligence towards the midwife work performance viewed from salary structure on civil servants midwife in work area Public Health Center Surakarta City. The study design using cross sectional approach. The study population was all midwives civil servants ( PNS ) in work area Public Health Center Surakarta City with the number 93. The samples in this study were all population of 93 people. Sampling technique using saturated sampling. Research instrument using questionnaires. The data was analyzed using multiple logistic regression. The result showed a significant effect of emotional intelligence on the midwife work performance on civil servants midwife in work area Public Health Center Surakarta City (OR = 9,20; CI95% = 3,48 - 24,33). There was a statistically significant effect of salary structure on the midwife work performance on civil servants midwife in work area Public Health Center Surakarta City (OR = 23,20; CI95% = 7,63 – 70,55). Logistic regression model showed independent variables (emotional intelligence and salary structure) are jointly able to explain the performance of midwives of 56.1 %. The conclusion of this study are emotional intelligence and salary structure will increase the possibility of a midwife for high work performance.
