Abstract
The main object of this study is to determine the phenomena, including temperature distributions, velocity distributions and the heat transfer coefficient for natural convection in the laminar flows hot vertical flat plate unsteady. The program was written by a Microsoft Developer Studio and the results was ploted using Matlab 2010. This paper outlines a method for solving natural convection with variation of the time. The time variation were 0.0001 s, 0.0002 s, 0.0003 s, 0.0005 s, 0.0007 s. The plate temperature was set at 60℃ and the free stream temperature was set at 20℃ with plat length 10 cm. The air properties evaluated at film temperature 40℃, were: viscous kinematic, v=17.008×〖10〗^(-6) 〖 m〗^2/s and termal conductivity, k=27.22×〖10〗^(-3) W/m℃. The other properties that used were gravitational acceleration, g=9.81 m/s^2 and Prandtl number, Pr=0.71. The boundary condition at y=0 were u=0, v=0 and T=T_w; at y=∞ were u=0 and T=T_∞; and at x=0 were u=0 and T=T_∞. The finite difference were the method, that was used by discritizing the energy, momentum and continuity equation. The result of this program was running properly and showing a good agreement with the classical literature in simulating the velocity and temperature distributions in laminar flows area for natural convection along vertical heated plate in different time, and also for the local heat transfer convection coefficient. The more distance x from the leading edge of the plate, the less heat transfer convection coefficient obtained. Keyword : natural convection, vertical-flat-plate, unsteady, finite difference method.
