Abstract
Literature processing activity conducted by the library of SMP Negeri 2 Karanganyar is the one developed and carried out gradually to the library users, generally the students of SMP Negeri 2 Karanganyar. This literature processing activity aims to maintain the information sources the library has to be utilized maximally by the users and to give the users the knowledge about the way to use information effectively, efficient, ethical and legal. The objectives of writing were to find out the book literature processing carried out by the Library of SMP Negeri 2 Karanganyar, to find out the book literature processing service process, to find out the book literature processing, to find out the sequences of book literature processing service, as well as to find out the constraints encountered in the book literature processing in the Library of SMP Negeri 2 Karanganyar and the solution to them. The data was collected using interview, library study, participation, and documentation methods. From the result of writing, it could be concluded that the book literature processing in SMP Negeri 2 Karanganyar had been carried out since a long time ago and it has been improve gradually. The benefits the users would get included accessible literature, and more well-maintained literature. The recommendations given included to optimize the book literature processing, to increase the library’s infrastructures, to attend the training for the librarians in library sciences in order to be developed in the Library of SMP Negeri 2 Karanganyar.
