    Abstract

    An Effective learning process requires reciprocal interaction either between teacher and students or between students in the classroom. The student learning process in the classroom can be carried out through speaking activity in the form of asking question, answering, expressing opinion, discussing, storytelling, and presenting assignment. The formal classroom situation and new school environment made the students anxious thereby affecting the students’ participation in the class including in the term of speaking. The students perceived speaking anxiety in the classroom is assumed related to self-efficacy and communication in the family they have. The objective of the research was to find out: 1. the relationship between selfefficacy and family communication with speaking anxiety in the classroom in the VII grader of SMP N 3 Widodaren of Ngawi Regency, 2. the relationship between selfefficacy with speaking anxiety in the classroom in the VII grader of SMP N 3 Widodaren of Ngawi Regency, and 3. the relationship between family communication with speaking anxiety in the classroom in the VII grader of SMP N 3 Widodaren of Ngawi Regency. The population of research was all of VII grader of SMP N 3 Widodaren Ngawi Regency. Samples of research taken with total sampling technique. The data of research were collected by using speaking anxiety in the classroom, self-efficacy, and family communication scales. Techniques of analysis were multiple linear regression analysis to test the first hypothesis and partial correlation analysis to test the second and third hypotheses. The results of research showed that there was significant negative relationship of self-efficacy and family communication simultaneously with speaking anxiety in the classroom (R = 0,820, p<0,05, Fcount 66,629 > Ftable 3,318). There was a significant negative relationship of self-efficacy with speaking anxiety in the classroom (r = -0,684, p<0,05). There was a significant negative relationship of family communication with speaking anxiety in the classroom (r = -0,396, p<0,05). Selfefficacy and family communication simultaneously contributed effectively of 67,2% to the speaking anxiety in the classroom (R² = 0,672).
