    Abstract

    This research aimed to find out whether or not there was an improvement of motivation and learning achievement of physics subject in the VIIIA graders of SMP Negeri 2 Tanon Sragen in the school year of 2011/2012, using Think Pair Share model of cooperative learning in Biasing material. This research was a Classroom Action Research). Each cycle encompassed planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subject of research was the VIII A graders of SMP Negeri 2 Tanon Sragen in the school year of 2011/2012, consisting of 30 students. The data was obtained using observation, interview and discussion. The data was analyzed qualitatively, conducting in three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. From the data analysis and discussion, it could be concluded that (1) the Think Pair Share (TPS) model of cooperative learning application could improve the student motivation in Physics learning in the VIII A graders of SMP Negeri 2 Tanon Sragen. The average percentage of student motivation before the study or pre-cycle was 43.32% increasing to 56.67% in cycle I and to 73.33% in cycle II; (2) the Think Pair Share (TPS) model of cooperative learning application could improve the student learning achievement in Physics learning in the VIII A graders of SMP Negeri 2 Tanon Sragen. The average percentage of student motivation before the study or pre-cycle was 30.00% increasing to 63.33% in cycle I and to 76.66% in cycle II. Keywords: Cooperative Learning, Think Pair Share.
