    Abstract

    This research started from teenager‟s emotions tend to be unstable and affect the activity of teenagers, the physiologic changes and tendency to act so teenager‟s emotional development should be directed in order to achieve the emotional maturity. The emotional management skills is one of indicator of the emotional maturity. Therefore, to develop the emotional management skillsneeded a guidance and counseling services appropriate with the characteristics and the needs of teenagers. The purpose of this research is to find out the success of educative games technique to improve emotional management skills of student gradee VII of SMP Negeri 2 Ngadirojo in the academic year 2012/2013. This research isa Quasi Eksperimental research which uses Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample was 60 studentsof grade VII of SMP Negeri 2 Ngadirojo. The technique used for sampling was random sampling. The technique used for collecting the data was a questionnaire of emotional management skills. The validity test of the instrument by using Pearson Correlation, while the reliability test of the instrument by using Cronbach Alpha technique with reliability coefficient of 0,910. The data analysis used SPSS Statistics 17.0 application with the Independent Samples T Test technique. Based on the results of testing the difference in pretest-posttest scores between the experimental group and the control group, it is known that the educative games technique be able to improve the emotional management skills. This is proved by the value of tcalculated equal to 7,500>ttable equal to 2,048 with a significance of 0,000< 0,05, so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there are significant differences in the improvement of emotional management skills between the eksperimental group which was given the treatment and the control group that was not given the treatment. The conclusion of this research is that the educative games technique be able to improve the emotional management skills of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Ngadirojo in the academic year 2012/2013.
