    Abstract

The phenomenon of magneto-impedance on Fe wire coil and thin layer Ni80 Fe20 had been reported by this research. Three-stage experimental had been done, they are magneto-impedance phenomenon, effect of adding ferrite core, and effect of Ni80Fe20 thin film deposition on magneto-impedance response. Magneto-impedance measurements had been performed by sample given perpendicular magnetic field. First stage, magneto-impedance phenomenon on Fe wire coil had been clarified. The value of magneto-impedance is increased by increased number of Fe wire coil (N), diameter of coil (D), and diameter of Fe wire coil. If the coil is considered as magnetic material, the increase sample permeability is caused by increased of N, d, and D. Then, the decrease of impedance is caused by increased of magnetic field. Second stage, the sample of Fe wire coil had different respond magneto impedance if the ferrite core is inserted. The typical change of impedance Fe wire coil with ferrite core at high frequency had smaller value than lower frequency. Magneto-impedance did not significant change with the variation of coil diamater (d) is used. Instead, magneto-impedance increased drastically with increase the value of coil (N). This phenomenon indicated that permeability more sensitive with increase the value of coil (N) then diameter of coil (d). Last stage, the evaluation of magneto-impedance response is performed in frequency 1900 Hz. The impedance value of coil coating Ni 80 Fe20 increased with increase thin film thickness. This phenomenon can be correlated with saturation magnetization, the increase of saturation magnetization is resulted by increased thin film thickness. Finally, the change of impedance increased drastically with increased N (15, 20, and 25). This fact is contributed by resulted higher permeability.
