    Abstract

    The purpose of this study is (1) Determine the distribution of mastery of subject matter in the High School Geography based on national exams in 2010-2012, (2) Knowing what factors are cause of the lack of national test scores in subjects geography by high school students. This research is descriptive quantitative study using a combined approach (quantitative-qualitative). The population in this study are all high school teachers who is teach class XII in Karanganyar. The sampling technique is saturated sampling technique. Data collection technique is Documentary Studies (document review), and questionnaires. Analysis using quantitative descriptive method thus known KD whichever is less understood by students and the following pattern that occurred from 2010 -2012. The results of the research can be presented as follows: (1) In year 2010 Based on the KD group philosophy, physical, social and engineering, KD percentage which is less mastered of most students is physical KD (41.6%), and consecutively social (26, 9%), engineering (20%), philosophy (11.9%). In year 2011 was dominated by physical KD (32.8%), and then consecutively were engineering (28.8%), social (19.4%), and philosophy (11.6%). In year 2012 there is only one physical KD is less mastered in SMA Muh. 1 KRA, Colomadu SMA, SMA Muh. 3 Gondangrejo, and SMA Bharata, and one engineering KD in SMA Muh. 5 Jaten. In the KD group of classes in 2010 the percentage of less mastered KD by students the highest was KD class X (45.2%), and then successively KD class XII (37.4%) and class XI (17.6%). In the year 2011 was dominated KD class X (46%), and then successively class XII (32.5%) and class XI (21.3%). In 2012 there is only one KD in class XI is less mastered in SMA Muh. 1 KRA, SMAN Colomadu, SMA Muh. 3 Gondangrejo, and SMA Bharata, and one KD in class X at SMA Muh. 5 Jaten. (2) The cause of a lack of mastery level KD national exam taken on three samples of high school (SMAN 1 Karanganyar, SMA Muh. 1, SMAN Kerjo) were dominant in terms of the media is the use of power point is too dominant, in terms of the method is dominated by the use of methods lectures and discussions, of the infrastructure factors teachers tend to use the LCD projector and continuously supporting books usage, and assessment techniques that generalize the use of written tests and assignments on all KD.
