    Abstract

    Research of glycerol adsorption which used γ-Al2O3 as adsorbent was carried out. Adsorption process was done in concentration variation of glycerol in comparison of glycerol:aquadest at 1:2, 1:3, 1:4 and 1:5 and also in temperature variation of glycerol adsorption at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 °C. The monitoring of surface tension by capillary pipe methode was performed in concentration variation of glycerol. The interactions between glycerol and γ- Al2O3 were conducted in batch methode. γ- Al2O3 was activated by physical method by heats until 400 °C in 1 hours. Characteristic of γ- Al2O3 was analyzed by XRD, test of adsorption ability was analyzed used acidity test which used NH3 as adsorbate. Determination of glycerol amount was permeated in γ- Al2O3 used Gas Chromatography (GC). The result showed that adsorption increase when variation of concentration rich in glycerol. At 30°C, maximum capacity of adsorption was found. Surface tension decreased by increasing adsorption temperature and it give indirect responsible to glycerol adsorption over γ- Al2O3.
