    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Development is an effort that includes changes in various aspects including social structures, social attitudes, and national institutions without compromising the original purpose, namely economic growth, income inequality as well as handling the expansion of employment opportunities. Regional economic development is a process by which local governments and communities to manage the resources that exist and form a partnership between local government and the private sector to create new jobs and stimulate economic development activity. Regional economic development aimed at achieving national development goals that spur development and improve income distribution and welfare of the people, so to note which sectors that have the potential to be developed. The purposes of the research were to determine the role of the agricultural sector, sub sector of agriculture, as well as agricultural commodities, identifying components that affect regional growth in the agricultural sector and sub sector of agriculture. The descriptive analysis research methodology was utilized in this research. The data used are secondary data and primary data. Method of data analysis used the Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift Share Analysis (SSA). The results of data analysis revealed that the agricultural sector is a sector basis during the years 2007-2011. Forestry sub sector is a sub sector basis during the years 2007-2011, while the livestock sub sector to sub sector basis during the years 2007-2008. Commodity soybean, maize, cassava, peanuts, green beans, cashew nuts, cotton, kapok, cows, teak wood, jungle mix, Layur fish, yellow tail/tuna, rays, tuna, and mackerel into agricultural commodities in the base year, 2011. Agriculture and forestry sub-sector has a rapidly growing national, proportional growth is slow and does not have a good competitiveness. Food crops sub sector has a rapidly growing national, proportional growth slow but has good competitiveness. Tree crops sub sector, sub sector livestock, and fisheries sub sector has national growth and rapid proportional growth, and do not have a good competitiveness.
