    Abstract

    ASBTRACT The objective of research was to find out the student learning achievement using Think Pair Share type of cooperative learning model with student work sheet in the economic learning achievement of the VIII B Graders of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta in the school year of 2011/2012. The method used in this research was a Classroom Action Research). The Subject of research in this classroom action research was the VIII B Graders of SMP Negeri 14 Surakarta. The VIII B graders consisted of 20 boys and 16 girls, with the total number of 36 students. The research was taken place in VIII B class. The techniques of collecting data used in this research were test and non-test technique. Non-technique test was used for collecting the data related to economic learning activity. Non-test data was obtained from observation, field note, and interview. The test technique was used to find out the student learning achievement with the learning using Think Pair Share model. Considering the result of classroom action research, it could be concluded that the application of Think Pair Share (TPS) type of cooperative learning model in Economic learning in manpower subject could improve the student learning achievement. The learning achievement was said as passing successfully because generally the gain of student learning achievement or the students’ score was higher than KKM (minimum passing criteria) of 70. Before the Think Pair Share type of cooperative learning model application, the mean class score of VIII B graders was 55, but after that, it increased by to 68.3 in cycle I and 78 in cycle II. A total of 17 students (40%) obtained the score higher than 70 out of 70% specified target in cycle I. In cycle II, it increased compared with it in cycle I.
