    Abstract

    ASBTRACT The purpose of this research was to improve the understanding of production, communication, and transportation technology development concepts by using flash cards media on fourth grade students of SDN 6 Jimbung at 2012/2013 academic year. This research was a classroom action research which carried out in three cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subject of this research were the fourth grade students of SDN 6 Jimbung, Kalikotes, Klaten that amounting of 43 students. The data collecting techniques used in this research were observation, interview, documentation, and test. Data validation used in this research was data triangulation, method triangulation, and content validity. For analyzing data, used descriptive comparative technique. The result of the research indicated that through using flash cards media could improve the understanding of production, communication, and transportation technology development concepts on fourth grade students of SD Negeri 6 Jimbung. Improvement of the concepts understanding was proved with the increase of value in each cycle. The average of concepts understanding value in pre cycle was 55,44; in first cycle increased become 74,41; in second cycle increased again become 83,98; and in third cycle the average of concepts understanding value became 84,14. In pre cycle, students who got value ≥70 (KKM) were 10 or 23,26%; in first cycle increased become 27 students or 62,79%; in second cycle became 36 students or 83,72%; and in third cycle became 39 students or 90,70%. The conclusion of this research is using flash cards media can improve the understanding of production, communication, and transportation technology development concepts on fourth grade students of SD Negeri 6 Jimbung, Kalikotes, Klaten at 2012/2013 academic year.
