    Abstract

    Keywords : electric car, Fuzzy logic, control speed Manufacturing of electric car is important in order to solve the environmental problem in transportation issue. This study is done to investigate power efficiency usage in electric car controlled system which is operated with DC motor by using fuzzy logic. Speed reference is used as an input for fuzzy logic control. The study begun by performing simulations and then continue with application in the real electric car. Data of rising time to speed reference for achieving steady state condition has taken for no load condition in both condition with or without fuzzy logic controller. The result shows saving time the control by using fuzzy logic in the simulations by 67% average at the start up to achieved steady state speed in the simulation while in practice showed 30%. The characteristic showed nearly same between simulation and practice to response of input signal of PWM with average error 8%. Energy saving average by using fuzzy logic is achieved 64.55% and electrical energy saving at starting to reach certain distance is obtained 20.35%. It can be concluded that by using the fuzzy logic control can be reduced the use of time to get speed reference hence leading to energy saving.
