    Abstract

    It has been done research on the design of measuring instruments macrobending losses due to the multi-mode optical fiber-based personal computer. As for the background of this research is that the fiber optic sensor is a technology base that can be applied to many sensing applications, the development of computer technology is now growing rapidly also have an impact on the development of optical fiber technology. The design tool consists of measuring the optical fiber system, system hardware consists of a system interface, power supply, motor driver and assembler fotodetector system, bending systems and software systems. Optical fiber systems was built using a fiber coupler 1x2 with a percentage of the output intensity of 50% half of them was, in the form of a circle with a diameter of 5 mm variation in the amount of twist. The treatments were performed on a fiber optic system in the form of pressure that lead to change in light intensity. The results of the intensity change to be inputs to the system hardware then is passed through the system software. The software was built using Delphi 7.0 capable to work in real-time scanning of the light intensity. The results showed that measuring instruments can be used to perform measurements macrobending losses as the greater number of turns, the lower the intensity of light was. Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang desain alat ukur rugi-rugi akibat macrobending pada multi- mode optical fiber berbasis personal computer, adapun yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah bahwa sensor serat optik merupakan basis teknologi yang dapat diterapkan untuk banyak aplikasi penginderaan serta perkembangan teknologi komputer saat ini yang berkembang pesat juga mempunyai dampak terhadap perkembangan teknologi serat optik. Desain alat ukur terdiri dari sistem serat optik, sistem perangkat keras yang terdiri dari sistem antar muka, power supply, driver motor serta pembuatan sistem fotodetektor, sistem bending dan sistem perangkat lunak. Sistem serat optik dibuat menggunakan fiber coupler 1x2 dengan presentase intensitas keluaran 50%:50%, dalam bentuk melingkar dengan diameter 5 mm variasi jumlah lilitan. Perlakuan yang dilakukan pada sistem serat optik berupa tekanan yang mengakibatkan perubahan intensitas cahaya. Hasil perubahan intensitas menjadi input pada sistem perangkat keras kemudian diteruskan melalui sistem perangkat lunak yang dibangun menggunakan Delphi 7.0 yang mampu melakukan pemindaian secara real-time terhadap nilai intensitas cahaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan alat ukur yang dibuat dapat digunakan untuk melakukan pengukuran rugi-rugi akibat macrobending dengan hasil semakin banyak jumlah lilitan maka semakin rendah intensitas cahaya.
