    Abstract

    This research aims to find out the implementation of Good Corporate Governance(GCG) principles and the implication of it to the attempt of preventing the non-performing loan in Surakarta Subsidiary of Bank Jateng. This study was an empirical law research that was descriptive in nature, explaining the implementation of GCG principles and the implication of it to attempt of preventing the non-performing loan in Surakarta Subsidiary of Bank Jateng. The types of data used were primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained and collected by the writer from the authorized party the writer obtained directly during a research on of it to the attempt of preventing the non-performing loan in Surakarta Subsidiary of Bank Jateng, while the secondary data was obtained from journal or book about GCG and banking credit. Techniques of collecting data used were interview and library study. Then the data was analyzed using grammatical interpretation. Based on the result of research and discussion, it could be concluded that: firstly, the GCG principles in Surakarta Subsidiary of Bank Jateng was implemented through the Director Board of Bank Jateng's decree No. 0073/HT.01.01/2006 on the Code of Corporate Governance of PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah of Central Java. The GCG principles including transparency, accountability, responsibility, independency, and fairness were then practiced in the process of issuing loan in Bank Jateng governed in the Director Board of Bank Jateng's decree No. 0203/HT.01.01/2006 on the Guidelines of Loan Issuing Implementation of PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah of Central Java. Secondly, the application of GCG principles in Surakarta branch of Bank Jateng had such implications as decreasing non-performing loan rate (the highest decreasing in 2010 and 2012 were 0,003%), increasing number of the customers (the highest increasing in 2009 was 7,35%), and increasing number of assets.
