    Abstract

    Color essence are differentiated into 2, synthetic color and natural color essence. Synthetic color essence is very practically used also it can make bright color to product which is colored. It makes synthetic color essence is often used in food, beverages, pharmacy and textile industry. However the waste or residue from synthetic essence can pollute environment if it is not optimally processed. Therefore the natural color essence begins to be considered to be used again. One of the materials that can be used as natural color essence is mango tree bark (mangifera indica L). Some people process the mango tree bark only by boiling the bark to get yellow to brown color for textile dye. This is not practical in the process and storing the essence in the mango tree bark, therefore it is needed to process the result of color essence from mango tree bark into powder. Chemical substances inside the mango tree bark are titerpenoid, limonoid, flavonoid, saponin, terpenoid, alkaloid and tannin. The substances which are used for color essence are tannin and flavonoid. Flavonoid is polar compound, so generally flavonoid soluble enough in polar solution like etanol, methanol, butanol, aseton, dimetil-sulfoksida, dimetilformamida, water and etc. Taking the color essence from the mango bark is done directly by batch extracting. Introduction experiment done at the beginning to decide operation condition include solution volume, extraction time and extraction temperature. Optimum condition got from the experiment is 25 gram mango tree bark extracted with 450 ml water; stir it in 400 rpm velocity in temperature 100oC for 2.5 hours. The result got from that process is 5.401 gram color essence mango tree essence with rendemen 21.60%. In making color essence, condition used is ration weight of material with solution volume 1:8 gram per ml, extraction temperature 100oC, extraction time 2.5 hours and velocity stirring 400 rpm. The result got from 425 gram mango tree bark is 68.216 gram. The test of color essence use in dying batik cloth is done through discolored endure to washing and test discolored endure to brushing. From that test is known that cloth coloring is scored "very good" is fixation liquid used is alum liquid.
