    Abstract

    This studi attempys to explore television talkshow viewing i.c its exposure and effects on audience. a survey (intercept mall survey) with 125 repondents was undertaken in the city of SUrakarta just six weeks after the election day of the 2009 Indonesia's legislative election. the study suggest that respondents mostly watched talkshow television three times a week and throught moderately that talkshow television is interesting enough seen both from presenters as weel as speakers performance and skill. further, this study also suggest that the cognitive effect t,c the increase of knowledge on political parties vision mission becomes appearently the major effect followed b the increase of knowledge on candidates performance. talkshow viewing moderately affects respondents preference of political party and / or candidate (in term of affective influence) and affects moderately as well on respondents behavior primarily in deliberating which political party and/or candidate should be supported
