    Abstract

    Abstract This research examines the concrete used as a fast neutron radiation shield. Polymer which has high hydrogen atom content is added to the concrete material composition and planed to be capable in protecting neutron radiation. There are eleven types of mixtures i.e.: normal concrete, baryte concrete, serpentin concrete, mixture serpentin concrete, mangaan concrete, steel slag polymer concrete of 0%, 10%, 20%, and normal polymer concrete of 0%, 10%, 20%. Four specimens for each mixture with 6 cm thickness are expossed to fast neutron radiation originated from 14 MeV neutron generators. The result shows that normal concrete has the highest in absorption for fast neutron radiations. Increasing polymer to restraint fast neutron radiation is not detected, but steel slag polymer concrete can be an alternative for a fast neutron and gamma ray radiation shield Keywords: fast neutron radiation, radiation shielding
