    Abstract

    B.J.J HETHARIA. NIM: S231108006. 2013. Motives And Satisfaction level of Blackberry Users In Air Force Seskoau Lembang. THESIS. Supervisor I: Prof. Pawito, Ph.D. II: DR. Widodo Muktiyo, SE, Mcom. Communication Studies Program, Post-Graduate School, University of Sebelas Maret, Solo. Motive is the urge within a person to satisfy his/her needs, including the needs to adapt to his/her environment. The objective of this research are: 1.To understand the motive behind the use of Blackberry device amongst members of Seskoau Lembang, 2.To measure the level of satisfaction and the extent of which it fulfills the needs amongst Seskoau Lembang residents in using Blackberry. The measurement is based on the following dimensions, namely cognitive needs, affection needs, integrated social needs, integrated personal needs and escapist needs. This research is an explanatory study and the research population is the member of Air Force Seskoau Lembang. Research is conducted in January 2013 and data is collected through questionaire. The result is then analyzed using a Likert scale and descriptive statistics. Conclusions derived from this research are: 1.The users of Blackberry device in Seskoau Lembang are satisfied in using the device, in the area of integrated social needs, emotional affection needs, and other integrated personal needs (GO> GS), 2. The users of Blackberry device in Seskoau Lembang are NOT satisfied in terms of fulfilling cognitive needs and escaspist needs (GO <GS), 3.In general, however, it is concluded that a Blackberry device has the capability to meet all the requirements of the users in Air Force Seskoau Lembang, though not in optimal way (GO = GS). Implication of the results are: 1.Organisation culture and social influence contribute to the motive and the level of satisfaction. The device was aimed primarily to search for information. However, in Seskoau, the device is used to satisfy integrated social needs, emotional affection needs, and other integrated personal needs, 2.Device does not have to necessarily fulfill all the needs of blackberry users, as long as they are relatively satisfied with the features though not in optimal way, 3.With the existence of Blackberry device, its users are pressed to act on every given information and command, 4.For military purpose, every communication device must fulfil the criteria of Armed forces- issued smartphone. Dorongan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan manusia menyesuaikan diri terhadap lingkungannya disebut motif. Tujuan penelitian: Untuk mengetahui motif penggunaan Blackberry warga Seskoau Lembang, Untuk mengetahui tingkat kepuasan warga Seskoau Lembang terhadap media komunikasi Smartphone Blackberry dilihat dari dimensi kebutuhan kognitif, kebutuhan afektif, kebutuhan pribadi terintegrasi, kebutuhan sosial teritegrasi dan kebutuhan pelepasan. Penelitian bersifat eksplanatif, populasi penelitian Warga Seskoau Lembang, Jawa Barat. Waktu penelitian bulan Januari 2013. Pengumpulan data dilakukan survey menggunakan kuesioner. Data dianalisa menggunakan skala likert dan statistic deskriptif. . Kesimpulan: 1.Blackberry mampu memuaskan penggunanya warga Seskoau Lembang dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan sosial terintegrasi, afektif dan kebutuhan pribadi terintegrasi (GO>GS), 2.Blackberry tidak memuaskan warga Seskoau Lembang dalam hal pemenuhan kebutuhan kognitif dan pelepasan (GO<GS), 3.Namun dapat disimpulkan bahwa Blackberry mampu memenuhi semua kebutuhan yang diinginkan, tetapi tidak maksimal (GO=GS). Implikasi: 1.Faktor lingkungan dan budaya organisasi berpengaruh terhadap motif dan kepuasaan penggunaan media, device yang ditujukan untuk mencari informasi ternyata dilingkungan Seskoau digunakan untuk pemenuhan sosial terintegratif, afektif dan kebutuhan pribadi terintegratif. 2.Pengguna media tidak harus merasakan kepuasan cukup dengan kemampuan BlackBerry memenuhi semua kebutuhan tetapi cukup dengan mendapatkan kepuasan walaupun tidak maksimal. 3.Penggunaan Blackberry terikat dan memaksa penggunanya bekerja keras untuk selalu menindaklanjuti setiap informasi kordinasi dan komando. 4.Perlu kesesuaian antara perangkat yang diberika n dengan tugas yang dijalankan, TNI AU harus melengkapi peralatan komunikasi Blackberry atau lainnya sesuai dengan kriteria Armed forces-issued smartphone.
