    Abstract

    ABSITRAGI': Multiple-choice tests used by the student in making research data (thesis) must be selected first in order, to get good and reasonable questions used to retrieve data. Quality of multiple+hoicetest items can be seen byscreeningwith qualitative and quantitative studies. Qualitative study is the analysis conducted before the test instrument $iven to participants to seek testing item in terms of aspects of the material, construction and language, while quantitative study is the analysis after the tests conducted by using Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory. This paper aims at giving recognition of qualitative and quantitative studies based on classicaltest theory containing rules and procedures that can be used as guidelines by the students to get multiple choice test items which are good. Besides, the lecturer as thesis advisor can give proper guidance in selecting multiple choice test items, so that data obtained are accurate and valid.
