    Abstract

    In 2000, the implementation of GFRP composites in railway carriages reach 60%, and increased 85% on Rail Bus. The main ingredient is a fiber composite, core and matrix. Several other composite manufacturing industry is also developing composite applications in the automotive field. Kayu Sengon Laut (KSL) and kenaf fiber is a natural material that is cheap and the potential to replace the core and synthetic fibers. Utilization of KSL and kenaf in line with the new rules in Europe "End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive (2000/53/EC)", and the decision of Congress FAO "International Year of Natural Fiber (IYNF) 2009", which is pressing the industry to utilize natural fibers. RAPID-year results of product I (2009), KSL segments have been successfully mass-produced and commercialized by industrial partners Putra Mulya Furniture in Sukoharjo. KSL core commercial product has also been used by PT INKA for making door-executive trains (K-1). In accordance with the commitment of president director of PT-INKA (Mr. Roos Diatmoko) and commercial director of PT. INKA (Ir. Gunesti WH), PT-INKA will use commercially core KSL for a train carbody panel products in 2010, particularly the K-1 and Rail Bus Solo. Core KSL this segment has been received to replace the core divinycell PVC imports. RAPID Programme in 2010 focused on the engineering utilization of kenaf fibers to replace synthetic fibers (fiber glass), in particular PT-INKA and other composite manufacturing industry. RAPID program sustainability first year (2009) also performed product marketing development by creating a web of Putra Mulya Furniture and core product promotion through exhibits.
