In 2000, the implementation of GFRP composites in railway carriages reach 60%, and increased 85% on Rail Bus. The main ingredient is a fiber composite, core and matrix. Several other composite manufacturing industry is also developing composite applications in the automotive field. Kayu Sengon Laut (KSL) and kenaf fiber is a natural material that is cheap and the potential to replace the core and synthetic fibers. Utilization of KSL and kenaf in line with the new rules in Europe "End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive (2000/53/EC)", and the decision of Congress FAO "International Year of Natural Fiber (IYNF) 2009", which is pressing the industry to utilize natural fibers. RAPID-year results of product I (2009), KSL segments have been successfully mass-produced and commercialized by industrial partners Putra Mulya Furniture in Sukoharjo. KSL core commercial product has also been used by PT INKA for making door-executive trains (K-1). In accordance with the commitment of president director of PT-INKA (Mr. Roos Diatmoko) and commercial director of PT. INKA (Ir. Gunesti WH), PT-INKA will use commercially core KSL for a train carbody panel products in 2010, particularly the K-1 and Rail Bus Solo. Core KSL this segment has been received to replace the core divinycell PVC imports. RAPID Programme in 2010 focused on the engineering utilization of kenaf fibers to replace synthetic fibers (fiber glass), in particular PT-INKA and other composite manufacturing industry. RAPID program sustainability first year (2009) also performed product marketing development by creating a web of Putra Mulya Furniture and core product promotion through exhibits. In the phase II (2010), the processing of kenaf fibers into products kenaf fiber mats made with reference to the product of kenaf fiber mat of synthetic fiber glass. Mat mat made of kenaf random (Chopped strand mat / CSM) and kenaf mats woven (woven rovings / WR) with density variations of 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 gr/m2. Users can choose a thinner mat for products with sharp curves, while for straight products to choose from a large density. The important thing that must be controlled before the kenaf fiber mat material was applied to the manufacture of composites is a "pre-heating to vaporize the free water content in the kenaf fiber mats. This is important for the process of polymerization of the matrix (polyester) is not disrupted (hardened and strong) so that the product does not have delamination. Kenaf fiber will be used for the manufacture of interior panels executive class trains (K-1), such as ceiling, luggage cover, walls and doors. Product in the year II (2010) is a commercial product kenaf fiber mat CSM and WR with the variation of density 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 gr/m2 equipped with data sheet specifications are available for use by the composite manufacturing industry, such as PT. INKA. In the data sheet specification described the advantages and kenaf fiber mat product comes standard procedures for the implementation of kenaf fiber (evaporation technique of free water content). Product research kenaf fiber mats and wicker this random mass-produced by industry partners CV. Abadi Nusantara Bengawan that produce and process the kenaf fiber in Lamongan, while PT. INKA is concentrated as the industry technology developers use kenaf fiber (composite panel manufacturing process berpenguat kenaf fibers) and also marketing to other composite manufacturing industry. Processing into commercialized kenaf fiber mats by PT. New Rosella Surabaya. This research product is ready to be used as a substitute for synthetic fibers (fiber glass). From studies showed that composite sandwich teknoekonomi kenaf fiber-KSL-Core UPRs production of PT. INKA has the advantage compared to commercial products-glass fiber composite sandwich UPRs-poof 10 mm. Key words: composites, kenaf fiber mats, random, woven
