    Biological Treatment With Bacterial Consortium oxidizing Mn(II) and Fe(II) From the Land of Vertisol Sragen For ground water purification Desi Sulistyowati ABSTRACT Desi Sulistyowati H0206004 The study, titled "Biological Treatment With Bacterial Consortium oxidizing Mn (II) and Fe (II) from The Land of Vertisol Sragen for ground water purification." Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Agr. Sc. Ir. Vita Ratri Cahyani, MP.; Ir.Sumani, Msi.; Dwi Priyo Ariyanto SP, MSc., Soil Science Departement, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. This research was conducted in August until December 2009, for soil and water sampling in Masaran Sragen, for isolation, and purification strike in Soil Biology Laboratory, Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture University of Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of bacteria oxidizing Mn(II) and Fe(II) which in isolation from land vertisol for the separation of Mn(II) and Fe(II) in ground water purification. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD), a single factor by application of a consortium of bacteria oxidizing Mn(II) and Fe(II). In this study, using the media Gerretsen, Stokes, Rouf and Stokes. Applying Oxidizing Bacteria Mn(II) and Fe(II) in 100ml of well water taps Swimming Manahan 1 is inserted into a closed bottle filter paper. To determine the concentrations of Mn and Fe dissolved after being given Oxidizing Bacteria Mn(II) and Fe(II) by AAS method. Data were analyzed statistically using the F test (for normal data) and Kruskall-Wallis (for data not normally) to determine the effect of treatments on the observed variables. Next Test DMRT 5% level (for normal data) to compare the mean between treatment. Results showed that type 2 and 3, combined Mn, combined Fe combined Mn and Fe, Mn oxidizing bacteria can reduce levels of Mn This decrease has not met the threshold are allowed to be consumed. Toward all treatments oxidizing bacteria Mn and Fe have not show the real reducing of Fe . Keywords: groundwater, bacteria oxidizing Mn(II), bacteria oxidizing Fe(II), waterpurification
