    Abstract

    Hendra Rahmatullah, G0005107, 2009. The Effect of Extreme Low Frequency Electromagnetism Rate Against Triglyceride Level in The White Rat (Rattus norvegicus). Medical Faculty of Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Electromagnetism radiation that over the limitation can affect the health. The effect can be seen in nervous system, cardiovascular system, and endocrine system. The objective is to evaluate the effect of Extreme Low Frequency electromagnetism rate against triglyceride level in the white rat (Rattus norvegicus). This research is quasi experimental using random sampling technique. The method is The Post Test Only Control Group Design. The subjects are 40 male white rats (Rattus norvegicus), 6-8 weeks of age, and 200 grams of weight. The subject divided into 8 groups , 4 groups were fed hyperlipid and the other 4 groups were not fed hyperlipid. After 4 weeks of adaptation and treatment, the subjects were given Extreme Low Frequency electromagnetism for 2 hours. The electromagnetism was produced by Hemholtz coil with density 2,4 mT. twenty four hour after treatment, the triglyceride level were tested using spechtophotometry. The data was analyzed using One Way Anova. The result of one way anova showed significant difference of triglyceride level (p<0,05) in non hyperlipid groups at 0 hour (81,2 mg/dL), 24 hour (51,8 mg/dL), 48 hour (49,6mg/dL) and 96 hour (46,6 mg/dL). The triglyceride level in hyperlipid groups at 0 hour, 24 hour, 48 hour, and 96 hour did not show significant difference (p>0,05). The result showed that the Extreme Low Frequency electromagnetism can reduce serum triglyceride level of rats. The most difference of triglyceride level happened 24 hour after the treatment. The mechanism how the electromagnetism affect lipid metabolism still need the following research.
