    Abstract

    The study aims to: 1). Find out the roles of students of SD/MI implementing PMRI, and SD/MI not implementing PMRI in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics among students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs. 2). Find out differences in the ways of reasoning and working of students of SD/MI implementing PMRI, and SD/MI which not implementing PMRI in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics among students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs. 3). Find out the differences in attitudes and interest of learning Mathematics of students of SD/MI implementing PMRI, and SD/MI not implementing PMRI in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics among students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs. 4). Find out the differences in concept understanding towards Mathematics of students of SD/MI implementing PMRI, and SD/MI not implementing PMRI in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics among students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs. The study uses Descriptive-Qualitative research. The subject of the research includes 5 students of Grade VII F of SMP Negeri Kalasan who come from SD/MI not implementing PMRI, and 5 students of Grade VII A of MTs Negeri Yogyakarta 2 who come from SD/MI implementing PMRI. The research instrument consists of questionnaires and interview sheet for finding out the student’s learning interest, observation sheet for finding out student’s roles in joining the teaching and learning process, test book/test items for finding out the student’s concept understanding towards Mathematics, and video tapes. The data analysis suggests that: 1. a. The role of students who come from SD/MI not implementing PMRI in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics among students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs: i). Students tend to be passive in joining the teaching and learning process of Mathematics. ii). Students tend to be the object of the teaching and learning process. iii). Students tend to be passive in receiving concept/knowledge from teachers who convey the material actively. iv). Students are not habituated to convey ideas or opinions. v). Students rarely work in groups. 1. b. The role of students who come from SD/MI implementing PMRI in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics among students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs: i). Students tend to be active in joining the teaching and learning process of Mathematics. ii). Students tend to be the subject of the teaching and learning process. iii). Students tend to be active in receiving concept/knowledge from teachers who convey the material actively. iv). Students are habituated to convey ideas or opinions. v). Students are habituated to work in groups. 2. a. The ways of reasoning and working of students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs who come from SD/MI not implementing PMRI: i). The way of reasoning focuses on products/outputs. ii). The way of working is mostly individual. iii). The way of working on test items is rarely varied. 2. b. The ways iii of reasoning and working of students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs who come from SD/MI implementing PMRI: i). The way of reasoning focuses on process. ii). The way of working is mostly group work. iii). The way of working on test item is varied. 3. a. The learning interest of students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs who come from SD/MI not implementing PMRI: i). Students with high learning interest reach 20%. ii). Students with medium learning interest reach 10%. iii). Students with low learning interest reach 20%. 3. b. The learning interest of students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs who come from SD/MI implementing PMRI: i). Students with high learning interest reach 30%. ii). Students with medium learning interest reach 0%. iii). Students with low learning interest reach 20%. 4. a. The concept understanding towards Mathematics of students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs who come from SD/MI not implementing PMRI: i). Students understand the concept of Mathematics more quickly in term of simple exercises. ii). Students find it hard to understand the concept of Mathematics in term of exercises related to daily life. 4. b. The concept understanding towards Mathematics of students of Grade VII of SMP/MTs who come from SD/MI not implementing PMRI: i). Students understand the concept of Mathematics more quickly in term of exercises related to daily life. ii). Students understand the concept of Mathematics more slowly in term of simple exercises.
