    Abstract

This research aims to find out how the socialization of Islam’s norms to the early age children is conducted by teachers and parents. The theory used was social action theory, consisting of four aspects, Rational Instrumental rational is the action affected by the expectation of the actor based on rational consideration, Rational Value is the action which is determined by fully belief in religious value, Affective is the action affected by the actor’s emotional feeling, Traditional is the action based on the habits in the past. Parent’s behavior in socializing Islam religion norms to the early age children is a social action because it is done by considering and orienting to their children’s behavior. The research was taken place in PAUD (Early Age Children Education) Purnama Kedungan, Pedan Subdistrict, Klaten Regency; the reason is because PAUD Purnama in one of the kindergartens based on Islamic education located in Pedan Sub district. This study belongs to a qualitative research. The technique of the collecting data used was by in-depth interview, observation and documentation. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Technique of analyzing data used was an interactive analysis model employing three main components: data reduction, display and conclusion drawing. In order to obtain the high validity level, source triangulation method was conducted. Briefly, the result of the research is that Islam’s norms that have been socialized include (1) akidah (belief) norm-belief in Allah, Angels, Koran, Prophet, Qada and Qadar and the doomsday-, (2) worship norm - honesty, justice, patient, asking for permission, speak well, associate well and eating and drinking behavior. Such norms are socialized using education method including (1) role modeling, (2) advice, (3) motivation and intimidation, (4) accustoming. Basically, the early age children do not know about the right and false behaviors. When their behaviors against the Islam’s norms, then the teachers and parents give the advice to the children that such behavior was false and give the example of how should they behave. By giving punishment, teachers and parents expect the children’s wrong behavior will change into a right one which fits with the Islam’s norms and values. However, the punishment is not physical, but non-physical one. For example, the parents give a less pocket money for their children or the teacher who asks the pupil to sing a song in front of the class. From those four education method above, accustoming (customization) method is the most frequently used method by teacher and parent in the socialization process because early age is the practicing time. By accustoming, so then when they are adult the children will be able to do the right norms and values by themselves, like what has been defined in the religion.
